Counselor’s Corner
Welcome! I am so excited to be a part of
Eisenhower this year. It is off to a
wonderful start. Thank you for welcoming me
so graciously into the Eisenhower family. I
look forward to interacting with your
children this year.
Many of you are familiar with the Tribes
curriculum, which continues this year. Tribe
is an important part of Tulsa Public
Schools. The Tribes curriculum includes
seven Community Guidelines: Mutual Respect,
Attentive Listening, Truthfulness,
Trustworthiness, Appreciations/No Put Downs,
Right to Pass, and Personal Best. Each week,
students meet with their tribe, consisting
of one staff member and eight to 10 other
students of different ages (3rd through 5th
grade). Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
mornings, the school follows the Tribes
curriculum, teaching Community Guidelines
through small group activities and
interactions. Discussions revolve around
social skills, problem solving, resolving
conflicts, goal setting, and character
development while building community at
Eisenhower.
In September, we begin tribes with the
community guideline of Mutual Respect.
Students discuss the meaning of self
respect, respect of others, and respect for
our school. When the opportunity arises,
please ask your child about tribes and what
she or he learned from the experience.
Family communication builds a strong
foundation for student achievement and
success.
Feel free to contact me if you have
questions about tribes or other concerns
that affect your child’s success this year.
Thank you!
