(AATF) |
French
Immersion students in grades 1 - 5
participate in this national contest. The
first level involves a written test
administered by the classroom teachers.
Students who qualify above a certain level
then participate in an individual oral
contest, taped and administered by the
teacher. Both the tests and tapes are scored
at the AATF
Center. State and national rankings are
awarded - the top 10 national ranking
winners, along with the top 3 state
ranking winners are recognized at a
city-wide spring reception. |

4th Grade
students are identified for eligibility. The
criteria requires that students score at or
above the 90th
percentile on standardized tests. Parents of
eligible students are notified that they may
apply to participate in
the program, which is fee-based (parents
pay). Participants receive a certificate of
achievement issued by
Duke University, a ribbon and a Guide to
Academic Programs and a newsletter. |
