REFLECTIONS
Art Contest

A visual, literary, musical and performing arts program
sponsored by your local, state and national PTA

  • THEME:
  • “Beauty Is…”  DEADLINE:  Friday, November 20, 2009

     
  • MEDIA:
  • Literature (fiction/nonfiction; prose, poetry, or drama; handwritten or typed;
    may not exceed 2000 words; no use of copyrighted material)
     
  • Musical Composition (voice, instruments or combo; with or without lyrics; composed work may be performed by a group; recorded on CD; not to exceed 5 minutes)
     
  • Photography (black & white or color; may digitally manipulate; no graphics or lettering; print must not exceed 11 x 14 inches with mat)
     
  • Visual Arts (drawing, painting, original print, metal etching, fiber work or computer-generated artwork; minimum of 11 x 14 inches and not to exceed 24 x 30 inches with mat)
     
  • Dance Choreography (original work recorded on CD or DVD, performed by up to 3 dancers, which may or may not include the choreographer; not to exceed 5 minutes)
     
  • Film/Video Production (fiction or nonfiction work on CD or DVD, by student who is director, screenwriter, cameraperson & editor; can be computer-generated, but no PowerPoint; not to exceed 5 minutes; file formats should be either .MPG/.MPEG; .MOV/.QT or .WMV)

  • JUDGING: Entries will be judged primarily on how well the student uses his/her artistic vision to portray the theme of “Beauty Is…” There are 2 divisions: Primary (preschool-2nd grade) and Intermediate (3rd-5th grade). Judges will be local artists/professionals. No EIS teacher or parent is allowed to judge. Each entrant will receive an award for entering. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st thru 3rd places of each division and media, and students will be recognized at a Rise & Shine assembly. Top winners go on to compete at the state level.
