January 2005

Dear Parents:

The office staff at EIS was pleasantly surprised before the holiday break and would like to say “Thank You” to all the students and their families who sent warm wishes, hugs, cards, food items, and gifts to us. As always your generosity was evident and much appreciated.

Welcome back from winter break and to the 2005 school year! January will be a busy month around Eisenhower. Preparations are under way for the French Exchange this spring and for our 3rd – 5th grade music/art program which will be held on January 13th at 2:00 and 7:00. We will also start to prepare in the upper grades for the state mandated tests that are coming up this spring. More information regarding these important tests will come home in the upcoming months.

As most of you know, my husband and I are expecting our second child around the end of January/beginning of February. With the date fast approaching , I wanted to convey the following information. If all goes as planned, I am taking an “official” maternity leave of six weeks after the baby is born. The district will have an Assistant Principal from another school come to Eisenhower and serve as acting principal while I am out. As soon as I find out who the person is, we will send some notification home. However, I will “unofficially” still be working. I will check my email daily from home and be in constant communication with Pam and Beth in the office as well as the “acting principal”. I will be at school from time to time and still plan on attending most of the meetings. All decisions will still be run by me and I am asking that all problems/issues/concerns also be brought to my attention. If you need to reach me, please feel free to leave a message with the office staff and I will return your call as soon as I can. The staff at Eisenhower is first class and I have no doubts this ship will run smoothly while I am out. Thank you in advance for your support during this time!

The EIS office staff would like to wish you and your family a “Happy New Year”.
