April 2005

Dear Parents,

Thank you very much for filling out and returning all the recent surveys for our school. We appreciate and respect your input!

There were 135 “School Times” surveys returned. 89 of those were marked for the school hours to stay the same, 16 were marked to start earlier in the day, and 30 were marked to start later. Due to response of the surveys the decision was made to keep our current school hours for the 2005-2006 school year.

We have also found out that we have enough support from our community to have a Pre K program at EIS. The TPS district is on the forefront of having quality Pre K programs and we are proud to become part of the initiative. We will add a Pre K program for the 2005-2006 school year. Please look for more specific information to come home this week in regards to this program. If you have a child who will qualify (will be 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2005) please plan on attending an upcoming meeting (specific date and time will follow).

The Clubhouse for Kids owners, David and Peggy Reid have decided to retire at the end of the school year. We would like to thank them both for their dedication, commitment, and service they have provided our dolphins the last several years. TPS will provide an “Eisenhower Before and After School Care Program” for the 2005-2006 school year. There is an informational meeting for all parents interested in enrolling their children on April 12th at 5:30 in the cafeteria.

State testing will begin for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students on April 11th. We will test everyday in the morning during this week. Here are some things you can do at home to ensure your child success: Make sure your child goes to bed early and gets plenty of rest, have your child here on time each morning, make sure your child has perfect attendance that week, give them encouragement before leaving home each morning, and make sure you have discussed with them how important these tests are. Thanks for your support!

Last but not least, we would like to thank the PTA for the recent approval of the social studies order. Each teacher will be getting the maps, atlases, and globes they requested for their classroom! Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
Stacy Strow
