August 2007

Bonjour, Hola, Hello! We are excited, organized, and full of energy and off to a great start this year!

For the safety of all of our children, we are asking that each parent please review the following drop off/pick up policy and strictly adhere to it:

  • Circle Drive in North Parking Lot – students may be dropped off at the end of drive and enter through the east door. You may pick up there as well however you may have to circle around until your child is outside.

  • Please do not park in front of our building. This area is for our buses.

  • Fence on New Haven along playground – Parents may drop off and pick up. But do NOT leave your car unattended.

  • ESC Parking Lot – Parents may only park their car and walk their children to the gate. Please do not drop off by the gate or allow your child to cross the parking lot by themselves.

For our new Pre K and Kinder parents, please remember that we are kindly asking you to refrain from coming to have lunch with your child during the month of Sept. We feel that during this time, the children need time to adjust and transition to an all day school. Starting in October, you are welcome to come anytime.

We have a new policy on birthday parties this year for our students in grades 2-5. Each classroom teacher will select one day a month to celebrate all of the children’s birthday for that month. The homeroom parent will contact you and tell you the day and then you may choose to provide snacks. Regardless if you send snacks or something yummy, your child will still have their birthday recognized and celebrated.

September is going to prove itself to be a busy month around EIS! Please make sure to check your email on Friday and look for the weekly calendar updates. Our hope is this email will help with the communication of our busy schedule!

First on Thursday, September 20th, we would like to invite everyone to our “Hispanic Festival”. We will celebrate “Hispanic Heritage” month by having all our Spanish classes perform. The performance will begin at 6:30 P.M. in the gym.

Friday, September 21st we will perform our “Hispanic Festival” for the students at EIS as well as conduct our “Farewell Assembly” for our 5th Grade EIS Ambassadors. Saturday, September 22nd our EIS Ambassadors will depart Tulsa to begin their eight week exchange at San Louis Potosi, Mexico. Our ambassadors are well prepared and we know they will represent EIS well in our Sister City! Saturday, September 29th the Ambassadors from San Louis Potosi will arrive in Tulsa and meet their host families. Thank you to all the families who are participating in this exchange and thank you to Mrs. Emily Wood! We understand what it takes to send or host a child and we applaud your commitment and faith in us!

On Friday, Sept. 28th EIS will hold its first “NED Challenge” of the year. This is the day we challenge our K – 5th grade students to use “No English all Day long”. The students who accomplish the goal we will be recognized in a future Rise and Shine Assembly.

Thank you for all you do for our staff and children every day! We appreciate you and thank you for making EIS your “School of Choice”.
