September 2005
Dear Parents:
Bonjour, Hola, Hello! We are
excited, full of energy and off to a great
start this year!
We hope you will join us in celebrating some
of the changes you may have noticed around
our school. First, the addition of our
circle drive in our north parking lot has
been a huge success. Remember, you may drop
off and pick up students in this safe area!
Thank you TPS! (The pot hole has been fixed
by the City of Tulsa – YEA!) Other parking
rules are as follows: 1) Parents may drop
off and pick up in front of the school along
our fence. Please note parents must remain
with their vehicles at all times. 2) Parents
are allowed to leave their vehicles and park
in the ESC parking lot. Parents must walk
their children to our playground. Please
note the children will not be able to cross
parking lot on their own. This is a very
dangerous situation and we are asking for
your help.
If you have called the
school and heard the voicemail message you
may have noticed a change there as well. We
are using the “target languages” our
students are learning as much as possible.
You may spot many other things in three
languages as well!
We would like to invite
everyone out tomorrow night to join us for
“Back to School” night at EIS. The event is
for adults only and will begin promptly at
6:30 in the gym.
The EIS staff has chosen to
celebrate “Hispanic Heritage” month by
having our “Hispanic Festival” at school.
The date is September 22 with performances
at 2:00 and 7:00. During the assembly we
will bid farewell to our EIS Ambassadors who
are going on the annual San Louis Potosi
Exchange! We are sending twelve 5th grade
students this year and eleven will be coming
from Mexico.
TPS is holding its annual
“Family Education Conference” on October 1
at Booker T. Washington High School from
8:30 – 12:00. Please mark your calendars now
to attend. Childcare is available. The
keynote speaker this year is Barbara
Coloroso and she is speaking on the topic of
“The Bully, The Bullied, and The Bystander –
Breaking the Cycle of Violence”.
TPS is bringing a “Bond
Package” to the voters in November. EIS is
slated to receive $981,331 for facility
renovation (central heat and air), library
books/technology, and classroom
books/technology, furniture, and health
education. This bond package will replace
the current one that is expiring. To date
the bond projects have brought $677, 643 to
our school!
EIS has a new Partner in
Education! Please join me in welcoming
“Tulsa Oilers” as our newest partner.
Thank you for making EIS
your “School of Choice” and thanking you
again for your part in helping us achieve
the “Exemplary School” title!
