August 2005

Dear Parents:

Welcome to the 2005-2006 school year! The staff at EIS has worked very hard this summer preparing for our year and we know it will be a great one!

We hope you are enjoying our new “Circle Drive” on the north side of our building. Students may now enter the east door in the morning and then walk to the front hall to wait for the bell. At the end of the day, the students are walked to the nearest exit by their teacher. Only Pre K and Kindergarten students are allowed to be picked up at the classroom.

Every staff member is required to greet the students at the door each day and required to help supervise after school. If you need to visit with the teacher please do one of the following: leave a note, phone on their plan time, or schedule an appointment through the office.

There will be several important documents sent home to you this first week. Many will be in the Friday Home and Back folders, however some may come before Friday. Please look for the following information to come home:

  • EIS Student Handbook

    • first page must be signed by student and parent and returned

  • TPS Code of Conduct

  • EIS Enrollment Form

    • must be updated each year

  • TPS Accommodation Form

    • (sheet explaining how your child will get home each day) – new this year

  • OCCT Testing Results

    • 4th and 5th grade only

  • Volunteer Information from PTA

  • Directory Form from PTA

Please mark your calendars now for our “Back to School” night. It is on Thursday, Sept. 1st at 6:30pm. Please remember that this event is for adults only and childcare will not be available.

We would also like to invite each of you to the TPS School Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 6th. The school board will recognize our school for our accomplishments last year. We were awarded with the “Elementary Exemplary School” title. This means we were the BEST elementary school in the TPS. What makes us the best? Test scores, student attendance, volunteer hours, instruction in foreign language, music, art, PE, community service projects, community events at our site, faculty attendance, number of school partners, and much, much more. We would not have achieved this title without each of our staff members contributing, our students attending and achieving, our PTA and Foundation’s support, and our parents/partners helping every step of the way! Thank you!

Thank you for making EIS the “School of your Choice”.
