Before & After Care for students |

Childcare is the
responsibility of parents
before 8 a.m. and after 3:20
p.m., except in the
following situations:
-
Students who eat breakfast
in the school cafeteria may
arrive at 7:50 p.m.
-
School personnel are
responsible for bus riders
from the time they are
picked up until the time
they are delivered.
-
If your child is left
unattended at school before
8 a.m. or after 3:20 p.m.
you will be notified to make
other arrangements for the
safety and security of your
child.

Bus Transportation Services |
-
The school district provides
bus transportation to
students who live more than
a mile and a half from the
school.
-
It is the responsibility of
parents to arrange for the
school bus transportation
service for their child(ren).
-
Bus
transportation request forms
are available in the school
office.
-
NOTE: It may take a few
days to add students or
stops to existing routes.

Child Nutrition: Breakfast |

Child Nutrition: Free and
Reduced Breakfast & Lunch |
-
Free
and reduced meal prices are
available to students (only)
for both breakfast and
lunch.
-
To qualify for price
reductions, parents must
fill out the appropriate
form and return it to the
school office. Forms are
sent home with ALL students.
-
The names of students who
qualify for free and reduced
meals are kept confidential.

Child Nutrition: Lunch |
-
The student lunch program
meets all federal and state
guidelines.
-
Students are offered choices
each day.
-
Students
may bring money to school to
pay for lunch, which will be
collected by the student’s
homeroom teacher in the
morning.
-
Parents
are encouraged to send a
check to set up an account
for student meals. The
cafeteria manager will
‘swipe’ a bar code each time
the student eats in the
cafeteria, to charge the
account. Parents will be
notified (by note sent home
with student) when the
account needs to have more
money deposited into it.
-
If
a student is unable to pay
for lunch, or his/her lunch
account is depleted, the
student may charge lunch.
Only three charges are
allowed.
-
After a student has charged
lunch three times, s/he will
be issued a cheese sandwich
for lunch until the account
charges are paid up.

Health Services – Illness |
-
The school clinic is staffed
with a trained health
assistant, and a licensed
nurse is on call at all
times.
-
Students who are ill are
sent to the clinic by their
teacher(s).
-
The health assistant will
monitor the child’s
condition, take his/her
temperature and determine if
the child should return to
class or if the parent
should be called.
-
If a student is running a
temperature, parents will be
called to come get him/her.
-
In
the event of a minor injury
at school (paper cut,
playground scrape, etc.) the
child will be treated and
returned to class.
-
In
the event of a more serious
injury, parents will be
notified and an accident
form will be filed with the
District Health Services
office.

Health Services – Medication
Policy |
-
Medication must be brought
to the school by the parent
/ guardian
-
All prescription medication
must be in the original
container with the
prescription label
containing the dosage orders
in tact.
-
The health assistant must
follow the doctor’s orders
for medication
administration.

Student Assessment: Diagnostic
Testing |
-
Both informal and formal
diagnostic testing services
are available to support
Tulsa Public School
students.
-
Diagnostic testing may be
requested by the teacher,
parent or counselor.
-
The process for TPS special
testing services will be
facilitated at the school
site by the school
counselor.

Student Support: Guidance &
Counseling Services |
-
Contact the school counselor
if your child is in need of
guidance or counseling
services.
-
The school counselor serves
as the building test
coordinator.
-
The counselor facilitates
the Student of the Week
program.
-
The counselor may work with
individual students,
parents, student groups,
class groups or with all
students together in an
assembly setting.

Student Support: Reading
Sufficiency Act (RSA) |
-
This is a State of Oklahoma
learning initiative
supported by law.
Components of RSA include:
-
The development of a Site
Reading Improvement Plan by
school staff.
-
The identification of
students in grades K-3 who
are reading below level
through the use of
state-approved assessment
tools.
-
The funding of identified
students to allow schools to
provide additional reading
support material or
services, such as tutoring.
-
Teacher
& parent agreement on the
plan.
-
The plan will include
suggestions for home support
in the area of reading
improvement.
